Taking the wheel until post is filled

Newbury Buses is looking for a new manager. The post has been advertised and whilst a manager is being found the short term responsibilities have been taken on by Russell Barrington-Crow.Russell, aged 41, who has 12 years’ experience in the bus industry, has taken over the reins until the end of May. The temporary ‘Mr. Newbury Buses’ graduated with a degree in economics prior to entering the bus industry. On leaving university he joined the First Group on a senior management training course and became operations director for Bath and Wilts.  He later moved on to a similar role in Bristol. During that period the first Polish bus drivers were employed and he introduced bendy buses to Bath.  He also oversaw the buses for the historic ‘Three Tenors’ concert in Bath.James Freeman, chief executive of Reading Transport, which incorporates Newbury Buses, said he hoped Russell would remain in charge of the Newbury operation until a new manager is appointed.

“He is an experienced busman who will keep the ship steady over the coming weeks,” James added.
