THATCHAM-based consulting engineers, Stuart Michael Associates Ltd (SMA), has recently been awarded a commendation under the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation’s Effective Partnerships scheme.
SMA is performing the role of travel plan co-ordinator of the Southern Leighton Buzzard Exemplar Transport Scheme, working in conjunction with partners Arnold White Estates, Friends of the Earth, Central Bedfordshire Council, Arriva and Leighton Linslade Town Council.
The partners have worked successfully together to realise the scheme’s aims to reduce the number of trips made by car and encourage local residents to travel by public transport, on foot and by bicycle.
Stuart Atkinson, Martin Ohrland and Nicola Clay from SMA collected the award at the CIHT’s annual awards ceremony held at Gibsons Hall in London  in the presence of guests of honour, The Princess Royal and Lord Digby Jones.
