Child prodigy, songwriter and guitarist, Eric ‘Eggy’ Liddle got his first record deal at age 11, released his first EP ‘Eggy’ on world wide downloads, made front page of the Newbury Weekly News, featured on NME TV and Channel 5 News, and played live at the Corn Exchange (Newbury) – now at age 15 has bought a Schael guitar on time for his new EP Afraid released by Acorn Records on world wide downloads.
Eric took up Tadley-based Schael Guitars instalment plan when he turned 14 and completed his final payment on time to promote his new Rock EP. Eric will be using his Schael custom-built Telecaster based on a 1960s custom surf green colour with maple neck for playing live and recording. Eric’s live gigs are mopping up great reviews in the press.
The Schael guitar has been beautifully set up with superb intonation and action. Dave Reece, a musician and co-founder of Schael Guitars, is well known for setting up guitars to the highest standard and has won accolades from among others Chris Trigg, owner of Vintage and Rare Guitars (London and Bath) known for their rock star base clientele. “The Schael guitars are very good and very playable. Schael Guitars build excellent guitars,” said Chris Trigg.
“I wanted classy looking with simple lines and Dave knew exactly what to build me,” said Eric Liddle. On first seeing his new Schael Telecaster Eric was speechless and when he plugged it into the amplifier and played it he was in heaven. Using high quality US licensed parts, Schael Guitars can offer custom built Mix ‘N’ Match (custom colour bodies with various designs on scratch-plates), Relic (aged) and hand painted Art guitars. Most Schael guitars are sold as private commissions to individuals and to guitar shops looking for something innovative.
Schael Guitars has also given choices never seen before to left handed guitar players as another satisfied customer points out when he bought his left handed custom build metallic blue Schael Stratocaster with honey vintage neck and white pearl scratch plate also on the instalment plan. “It looks gorgeous, sounds fantastic, and has been uniquely crafted just for me,” said Simon Byng. He was looking for something different, and left handed. He discussed some ideas, and eventually settled on the design and specification. Schael Guitars kept Simon informed of the progress and stage payments were arranged so that on the big day Simon had paid for the guitar. “I am so pleased with the finish and quality of my Schael guitar, it was exactly what I asked for, and it sounds fantastic!” comments Simon Byng. The custom-built left handed Schael Stratocaster was £1,200. “It attracts admiring looks from serious guitarists. I would recommend a Schael guitar to anyone who is looking for a new guitar, and who wants something better than the usual brands,” adds Simon Byng.
Schael Guitars was founded in 2004 by professional musician, Dave Reece and artist, Jeannette Schael. In May 2011 Schael Guitars in partnership with Guitar Village (Farnham) donated a Stratocaster, amp and accessories as first prize to the Wessex Cancer Trust Rock fund raising event to raise awareness and funds for young people diagnosed with cancer. The event held at The Hobbit in Southampton had bands appearing throughout the day. The highlight of the day was the raffle with the first prize being the Stratocaster. “We are grinning from ear to ear. Fabulous prize,” said Kim Lawford, deputy to chief executive, Wessex Cancer Trust.
The Wessex Cancer Trust provides help and support for children, teenagers and adults living with cancer including promoting research into cancer and to advance education into its causes, prevention and treatment.
