THEALE-based Claude Fenton (Construction) Ltd has completed a project to build a small housing development of four units in Reading.
Privately-owned land containing lock-up garages had fallen into misuse and was facing demolition, creating an opportunity for a community development of low cost housing, set in a quiet cul-de-sac to the west of Reading town centre; a short drive to major amenities, including Reading West and Reading mainline railway stations, Reading town centre.
Claude Fenton (Construction) Ltd negotiated the contract for the new builds – built to NHBC specification (ensuring that the build meets the highest standard to current regulations), which consist of two sets of semis, of two and three bedroom. This is an addition to the existing houses in Ivydene Road, built by Claude Fenton in the 1960s.
Robert Bottomley, the managing director of Claude Fenton (Construction) Ltd, said “We are very pleased with the results and believe that this is a major enhancement for the community.”
A delayed start of nearly eight months owing to the necessary relocation of underground electricity cables meant a much tighter timeframe for Claude Fenton Construction to deliver the housing units.
The units are now on the market for both sale and rental, through Patrick Williams & Co. Estate Agents.
