Hungerford business is producing a DVD for Great Ormond Street Hospital

The cry of “Lights, camera, action!” will be heard more frequently in West Berkshire, with the launch of a new video production and event management company.
Hungerford-based Perceptions Associates Limited (PAL) has just opened for business and already secured a handful of contracts with clients including Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Ken Findlay, the director of Perceptions Associates, has built an enviable track record of providing expertise over a number of years to national and international corporates, including those within the medical life science and financial services’ sectors.
“I am delighted to have been awarded the contract to produce a DVD for Great Ormond Street Hospital to help train youngsters and their families to safely dialyse at home using an innovative and proven kidney home haemodialysis machine called NxStage,” said Mr Findlay.
“I am working closely with Adam Phillips, a Great Ormond Street Hospital patient, who is the first teenager in Europe to dialyse at home on the NxStage.  I first met Adam back in early 2010, when I produced a DVD called Adam’s Story, which follows him – and the hospital’s decision to make NxStage available to patients – and how it has helped transform Adam’s life.”
Rather than journeying into the hospital several times a week for hours at a time to dialyse, Adam can do it in the comfort of his family home while on his games console or watching TV.  This relaxed delivery of vital treatment is contributing to improved health and a better overall quality of life.  Adam regularly plays football and cricket. He recently played cricket for the Great Britain team in the Transplant Games, scoring 138 not out against Australia.
Adam made a presentation at the House of Commons on World Kidney Day this year and, even more amazingly, he has been able to go on holiday as the NxStage unit is portable. In fact, Adam went skiing abroad, which is testament to his levels of fitness and vitality thanks to the treatment he receives from the Hospital team and NxStage.
Perceptions also offers exhibition consultancy, in terms of design and build of a stand plus how to make the most return on investment from attending an exhibition.  Mr Findlay has responsibility for the design and build of a stand at Manchester’s Haemodialysis (HD) conference, held at the Lowry Hotel, later this month, at which NxStage will be displayed.  Adam will be at Manchester HD too, speaking about his experiences of Home Haemodialysis (HHD).
“Some clients look for the holistic, full service approach from Perceptions, while others choose from the menu of services that can be specified from the company’s website www.perceptionsmgt.co.uk” said Mr Findlay.
A new client that falls into the second group is Diesel Head, the misfuelling prevention device.  Mr Findlay said:  “This device, the brainchild of a British inventor, is the robust solution to the problem of motorists with diesel cars inadvertently pumping petrol into their tanks, known as ‘misfuelling’.  The Diesel Head fits to the fuel inlet pipe on diesel cars, and can only be activated by a diesel fuel nozzle, thus preventing the possibility of misfuelling with petrol.
“I loved the simplicity and efficiency of the device and was very pleased to be asked to produce a DVD, which will feature on www.dieselhead.co.uk showing how easy it is to install and use – a fit and forget solution.”
Mr Findlay believes that there is absolute synergy between DVD production and events.  “It’s all about showing people rather than just telling them, allowing more interaction with an organisation, its people, services and products,” he concluded.
