NEWBURY-based company MWS Media is to launch a new initiative to support SME-sized businesses.
Its ‘SME Sessions’ will be one day a month when businesses can a 45-minute slot in a professional studio with lighting, green-screen, an autocue and even a make-up artist.
MWS Media is now in its fourth year of trading and, despite the economic downturn, is continuing to win business with some of the world's largest companies.
“Four years ago, video was mainly being used by large corporates or the public sector,” said Ben Myers, the managing director, “but now, any websites or training schemes that don't have an element of video are getting left behind.”
Research would seem to back up his statement, with Forrester showing online visitors who view video on a website stay two minutes longer on average and are 64 per cent more likely to purchase than other site            visitors. Indeed, Dr James McQuivey calculated that a minute of video was worth 1.8 million words.
MWS says that demand for video is continuing to increase. It recently helped launch the Quickbooks Online service from Intuit, and later this month fly out to Nice in support of a multi-national soft-drinks manufacturer.
Mr Myers said: “I love the diversity. Our projects include filming adverts, homepage videos, training materials, marketing teasers... every day presents something new, and it makes it a fun industry to work in.”
Mr Myers’ latest idea is focused closer to home, with his SME Sessions. He explained: “We have been helped so much by the local community in and around Berkshire over the last four years, and so we want to give something back.
“High quality video should be accessible to all businesses, and here we aim to give SMEs a video for their website, blog or emails that looks as good as those from Apple or M&S.”
