A retired civil servant from Greenham is planning to celebrate his 40th wedding anniversary in style after winning a holiday of a lifetime on his 67th birthday. Bert Allison from Sandown Way was amazed when Charter Travel phoned him with the good news. "I was dumbstruck, it was the best birthday present ever" he said.

The tickets were won in a prize draw organised by Charter Travel in Hambridge Road. The family-owned travel company is celebrating twenty years in the industry with competitions running throughout the year.

Account manager for Virgin Atlantic Airways, Cameron Kay drew the winning ticket. Owner Sandra Colbourne was delighted that Mr Allison had won. "When his name was pulled out of the hat I was so pleased, it couldn't have happened to a nicer couple."

Bert and Hyacinth Allison are now planning a trip to Cuba this summer to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. "It's going to be absolutely wonderful, we're so excited," the couple said.

Charter Travel's next competition is for two tickets to New York.
