A Newbury photographer has been assigned the honour of helping professional photographers from all over the world raise their standards through his expertise.
Llewellyn Robins (pictured) is the newly-appointed qualifications advisor for the British Institute of Professional Photography. He has served as a chairman and judge on the qualifications board for nearly 10 years and has a great deal of knowledge about standards and qualification in professional photography.
His new role with the BIPP is to help and new and unqualified members to gain their Licentiateship and also to advise qualified members on the route to a higher qualification.
Normally, the assessment of work is carried out by viewing images sent to Llewellyn Robins on a CD. The prospective candidate then arranges a time for Mr Robins to ring so that they can both have the pictures on their screens while he talks them through the images.
The alternative is to visit BIPP headquarters in Aylesbury for a one to one with Mr Robins where the photographs can be discussed and critiqued.
Since starting the new scheme, Mr Robins has contacted more than 100 new photographers who are seeking to improve their work and to gain a BIPP qualification. Many of them are now on the mentoring scheme and are hoping to gain a qualifications the next few months.
