TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

Hello again for this month’s update. It has been a busy month for myself and the neighbourhood team.
I have been busy, and recently dealt with a man in the town centre. On the night in question, he was in the process of getting issued a Section 27 Warning from the Violent Crime Reduction Act, which basically means the police can direct a person to leave a designated area if they have been or are likely to cause alcohol-related disorder.
He was subsequently arrested by officers, and charged in the morning with the offence of Public Order. He was was due to appear before magistrates this week.
We will not tolerate any abusive behaviour in the town centre, be it in the day or night.
People should be able to go out without the fear of seeing any abusive behaviour, and the police have the powers to stop this behaviour.
People should be aware that in Newbury town centre there is a Pub Watch scheme, which means that if an individual is causing trouble in the town or pubs, then they can be placed on the scheme, which excludes them from all the pubs which have signed up, which includes the majority of the pubs in the town centre.
I would also like people to be aware of the need to secure their cars, especially overnight. There have recently been occasions where people have forgotten to lock their car doors, and items have been stolen from the cars overnight.
This opportunistic crime can be stopped if people remember to double check their cars after they come home, and never leave valuables in them.
I am keen to hear from anyone, and I can be contacted on lee.frost@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk
