Business Profile

When it comes to offering first class property maintenance, grounds keeping, cleaning and repairs, Lollypop Facilities Management Ltd is a leading supplier in the region.
With more than 70 sites across the South and more than 7,500 residential properties and an extensive portfolio of commercial clients, Lollypop is fast becoming one of the leading facility management (FM) companies in the region.
The company was founded in 2004 by managing director Matt Brookfield and was initially called GWC and focused on cleaning windows. The business has grown through servicing block management companies and commercial businesses and now Lollypop employs 23 staff at its headquarters in East Garston, in the Lambourn Valley, and at a satellite depot in Southampton.
Mr Brookfield said: “Since the business started we have always seen our contracts renewed and that is something we are all very proud of. The FM business is very competitive and you have to deliver consistently professional services to achieve that kind of record.
“We offer a prompt response to our clients and will deal with the most urgent calls within two hours and less urgent jobs in an appropriate timescale and they can be assured our staff are all subject to continuous training and are qualified in a host of skills, we have recently become approved electrical contractors, with NAPIT. We are also SAFE contractors accredited.
“All the staff are employed by Lollypop, rather than using sub-contractors as many FM companies do, with the exception of specialist roles that are rarely required.”
Clients also benefit from their own area on the website www.lollypopfm.com where they can not only monitor their service level agreements, but can make requests for additional work and receive an instant estimate and continuous communication of the progress and cost of a job.
Part of the company’s success is surely due to Matt Brookfield’s ‘hands on’ leadership that reflects his military background in the army. He explained: “I never ask anybody to do something I would not do myself and if it comes to spending the day on my hands and knees cleaning skirting, then I can do it and equally I am just as at home in an office, meeting with a commercial facilities manager to discuss logistics or on site with a block management agent supplying a quote.
“Just the other day, at 4.30 the other morning, I was on Southampton Street in Reading up our cherry picker cleaning windows and believe me there isn’t a property we service where I haven’t joined the teams working there.”
The extensive Lollypop fleet of exceptionally clean liveried vehicles is suited to every situation and that includes the only seven-and-a-half-tonne cherry picker owned by an FM company in the region. It can reach 22 metres high and 17 metres outreach. Matt Brookfield explained: “We include our cherry picker within the normal labour costs of a job, whereas our competitors have to hire one especially and will always pass this cost on to the client. This alone means we can be exceptionally competitive on price.”
With this approach it seems certain that while the Lollypop logo is already regularly spotted across the region, there is no doubt the Lollypop logo is going to become an ever more familiar sight.
