Business Profile

With the introduction last April of the Feed-in tariff for solar PV systems, homes and business are now able to gain some relief from the relentless rise of fuel prices, while at the same time benefiting from a Government-backed payment guaranteed for 25 years.
Added to this is the knowledge that each installation decreases carbon emissions and helps Britain’s future energy security.
Ryan Davis, the operations director at GHE Solar, said: “The Feed-in tariff is such a great deal that demand for PV systems has been very strong since its introduction. Our customers have been amazed at how smooth the process was and delighted each quarter when they receive a decreased electricity bill and a payment arrives for the electricity the system produces.”
Mr Davis continued: “At GHE Solar we bring significant amounts of large construction experience to the renewable energy industry. This gives us a better understanding of how our systems fit into the overall building. This allows us to make the installation process run smoothly by planning for any possible problems. We have been involved with large and small scale jobs and have developed an understanding of the challenges each brings. Our focus is always on the customer and supplying them with the best system for them. We are not tied to any one manufacturer and are able to offer unbiased advice on which system will fit the location of the installation best.”
A similar scheme called the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will provide guaranteed payments for solar thermal systems which produce hot water. This is in a trial phase with a full introduction scheduled next year.
GHE Solar provides a full turnkey solution for both solar PV and solar thermal systems. This starts with a survey whose goal is to assess what technology is suitable for the site. Mr Davis said: “Our philosophy is that high pressure sales techniques are not what customers want. We aim to provide honest and trustworthy information coupled with the most competitive pricing. We leave customers to make their own decisions and find that the majority choose us. This approach also means that many of our sales come from referrals. I think that speaks volumes about how happy customers are with the systems and us as a company.”
In order for an installation to qualify for the Feed-in tariff or RHI, the installer must be MCS-registered and use MCS-approved equipment. Systems from GHE Solar fulfil both these criteria and they arrange for the system to be placed on the MCS register, another condition, so that the customer has little administration work to complete.
