Getting the right financial advice to achieve life goals, whether retirement planning, investing for income or obtaining a mortgage for the dream home, is essential and the demand for the services of Wessex Investment Management Limited has created an opportunity for experienced independent financial advisers (IFAs) to join the company.
Wessex Investment Management has grown steadily since it began in May 2000 advising clients, primarily across the Wessex region, from offices in Beaminster and Ferndown in Dorset and since 2004 in Newbury, when it acquired Banks Financial Services of Carnegie Road – which is where there are now opportunities for experienced IFAs.
Managing director Kevin Bailey explained: “With even stricter compliance and the need to obtain more qualifications coming into effect next year many smaller IFA practices are considering whether they are sustainable and no doubt many IFAs will leave the industry faced with the growing burden and cost of ensuring they remain compliant with the regulations.
“However, some will be looking for a way to continue to offer a great service to their clients and grow their business – those are the ones we would like to join Wessex and is why we are advertising in today’s Newbury Weekly News. We are looking for fully qualified and reputable IFAs who would like to join us and continue to practice while we take care of the compliance issues for them.
“We would also explore acquisition, which may be attractive.
“Owners of their own business who are successful, but have seen the time available to help their clients eroded by compliance issues are certainly people we would like to talk to, especially within the M4/M3/A34 triangle.
“We feel the key to our success is the close relationship we establish with clients - many of whom have enjoyed personal associations with our advisers over a number of years. All advisers and administrative staff are qualified and experienced people working together to ensure client objectives are satisfied – does that sound like your approach to being an IFA?
“In addition we have forged strategic partnerships with other key professionals; in particular, accountancy practices to provide access to technical assistance on all taxation matters and solicitors with regard to wills and trusts. We have retained close links with the accountancy firm Banks & Co and have relationships with solicitors along the M4 corridor that refer clients to us at Wessex.
“Wessex Investment Management's primary objectives are to help clients achieve three things; creating, managing and preserving wealth. This is why advising on inheritance tax planning, investments, generating income in retirement, and the use of pensions in retirement planning accounts for 85 per cent of our business, however we are able to offer a full advice service with qualified advisers on long term care planning, equity release and mortgages. We are one of the few regional IFA firms able to do so. We are also able to assist those clients wishing to retire to countries within Europe.”
