The team at Dovetail HRS, based in Newbury town centre and entering its 21st year in the marketplace, takes pride in its ability to look after its candidates best interests when seeking new opportunities, and developing their career.
Dovetail is asked to identify suitable candidates to fill a wide range of positions; temporary, fixed term and permanent appointments.
Experienced recruiters offer industry experience and work in the following areas – office administration and secretarial support, customer service, sales and marketing, human resources, facilities management, industrial and catering, finance and accountancy, environmental, health and safety, and engineering.
Dovetail understands that moving jobs can be both an exciting but anxious time, and works hard to do what it can to support your own job search efforts.

What can Dovetail do?
* Schedule a thorough telephone or face to face registration interview to discuss your current situation and expectations/ideas in going forward
*  Ask you to undertake some evaluations to gauge your abilities with IT systems and other relevant job skills
*  Discuss market conditions, salary rates and offer advice as to what options are out there
*  Assist with interview skills, CV presentation and act as a ‘sounding board’ for concerns
You may find yourself asking, what is the advantage in registering with a local agency?  Dovetail believes that there are several reasons why building a successful relationship with an experienced recruiter can be helpful:
*  Working with reputable, local businesses
Dovetail enjoys long standing relationships with many of its clients, and therefore has gained a good understanding of their workplace culture and the sort of individuals that will excel in their environment.  This leads the firm to identify potential employers who you may not have been aware of or considered before.
*  Taking detailed job briefs which leads to new opportunities
Dovetail often hears about the frustrations experienced by individuals who have taken on a new position and feel they were ‘mis-sold’ the opportunity; and simply the expectations were not met.  Dovetail works to avoid this scenario by really getting to grips with exactly what is required from the job and ideally what character and personal attributes the applicant should exhibit.
*  Option to consider temporary work
If you are new to the area, have recently been made redundant, or perhaps have worked with one company for some considerable length of time, it can be quite daunting to consider a move to a new position/company.  Dovetail plays a valuable part in offering the option of short-term temporary assignments where you can try out new environments, tasks and meet new people and this can lead to many more leads and prospects for you in your job search – it can also really boost your confidence and enhance your existing skills.
n Access to vacancies that are not yet advertised
When working with our clients, if a vacancy arises unexpectedly or they want to ‘test the waters’ to see who is out there in the marketplace, Dovetail will be notified of the requirements and is often asked to come up with a shortlist of individuals it believes would be suitable. This is great for you, as you avoid competing with a high volume of other applicants. Dovetail can discuss the role as an option to explore, and attempt to secure an interview – all in a short period of time.
*  You’ve got someone else on your team
Job hunting can be a long and sometimes difficult process, and particularly if you are currently working full time, it is not easy to capture all the opportunities out in the marketplace effectively.  By building a relationship with a qualified, experienced recruiter, you can benefit from the support given and someone else keeping a watch on your behalf.
What do you, as an applicant, need to do now?
Dovetail is pleased to report that market activity is definitely picking up, with more opportunities becoming available, however it is still competitive out there.  Therefore, some suggestions it can offer to assist in your job search include:
(1) Ensure your CV is presented in a professional way and is proof-read before submitting to employers – remember it is designed to get you in front of them;
(2) Take the time to tailor your CV for the job you are applying for, highlighting why the company should consider adding you to its shortlist;
(3) Keep in contact with appropriate references and don’t be afraid to ask for written testimonials from management or customers;
(4) Make a note of the jobs you are applying for, and follow up three days later if you have not heard back or received an acknowledgement – this demonstrates perseverance and your genuine interest in moving forward;
(5) Talk to at least two professional recruiters that you feel comfortable with and keep in regular contact regarding both your activity and vacancies they are working on that could be appropriate.
Dovetail hopes the above advice is useful to you and would welcome a phone call or personal appointment if you would like to partner with the company to enhance your existing search efforts.
Dovetail's office is conveniently located at the end of Northbrook Street, Newbury, and its website is continually updated with current opportunities and a list of appropriate contacts who can speak with you directly.
