Business Profile

HOW many venues can offer you a purpose-built 140-seater auditorium with a huge 12-metre square screen? Can you imagine how impressive your next event could be held at Herongate Leisure in Hungerford?
Do not be fooled, beating within the heart of Herongate Leisure are some of the most exciting corporate facilities in the area. The auditorium, with its plush tiered seating where each chair has its own fold-out desk, is fitted out with all the audio visual systems necessary to make it perfect for, presentations, training, demonstrations, seminars, lectures and product launches.
Giving Newbury Business Today a tour of the facilities at Herongate Leisure, marketing manager Katie Jeffries explained: “We have this large lobby on the first floor which is ideal for receiving delegates before going through to the auditorium, and we can also serve coffee and food here. It also serves for a good break-out area from the auditorium too.
“The tiered seating in the auditorium can be retracted which changes the room from a theatre into a much larger area suitable for a reception. On the first floor, we also have the bar area, which is more convivial and can accommodate up to 200 people for a reception. Of course it is possible to hire all the facilities together for a larger event and there is also the outside balcony.
“We believe in charging an inclusive daily delegate rate to offer the best value to our clients who choose to use our facilities. The rate will include all the facilities and audio visual equipment, which all too often are treated by some venues as hidden extras. We also have full disabled facilities and ample free parking and wifi throughout the venue.
“Being in Hungerford, we are ideally positioned for corporate events – midway between Swindon and Newbury and a mainline railway station puts Herongate within easy reach of London Paddington. There is also the nearby junction of the M4 motorway. The venue is perfectly located for local businesses and those from further afield looking for a central location for a corporate event.”
Herongate Leisure has also teamed up with The Bear to offer superior accommodation and a competitive rate for delegates who need to stay overnight in the town.
Katie Jeffries added: “The facilities have been very popular with businesses and among the many community groups in Hungerford and we have hosted HADCAF events. Part of the Hungerford Food Festival was held here too, together with ballroom dancing and aerobic classes.
“Businesses are also discovering our facilities too and recently we held our first international event here when a business here on Charnham Park hosted a delegation from China in the auditorium.”
With excellent leisure facilities within the same building, delegates are also welcome to stay on and use the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa if they want to unwind. There is also a fully-equipped gym. Herongate Leisure also boasts tennis and squash courts, sun beds and a range of beauty treatments.
Recently, Herongate became one of the first leisure venues in the region to introduce the Power Plate. The vibrating plate exaggerates the impact of exercises and has proven to be a hit with celebrities at home and in Hollywood. It means benefit can result from a mere 15 or 20 minutes on the Power Plate.
A growing number of local businesses take advantage of corporate membership and enjoy significant discounts, together with the benefits of giving their staff the chance to stay fit and healthy.
Clearly, whether a business looking for an exceptional venue, or someone looking for somewhere to keep fit or unwind, Herongate Leisure should be top of the list.
