Banjo Cycles of Bartholomew Street, Newbury, is now in its sixth year now and owner Mark Letters feels ‘there has never been a better time to be a cyclist’.
From being an original one man band. The shop has grown in that time and now a great team of enthusiasts, with a fully Cytech approved service and repairs workshop.
The brands stocked are better than ever, with Specialized, Giant Felt, Zipp Powertap Cyclops and now the new arrival of the classic Italian brand Colnago.
2010 looks to be a great year. Banjo caters for all levels of rider too, from a child’s first like-a-bike, to a full on road race of high end mountain bike.
The success of the UK Olympic team and the rise of Mark Cavandish and Bradley Wiggins in the 2009 Tour De France has given the sport a real boost and put cycling into the public’s living rooms.
Now with the credit crunch upon us, the commuting cyclist is now a common site on the West Berkshire roads.
The cycle to work scheme and rising fuel costs have also aided the surge in people riding bikes.
With this in mind, Banjo Cycles has had to adapt its direction as the even the most infrequent of ‘fair weather rider’ is much more technical and informed.
Banjo can now offer a full Body Geometry Cycle Fit, which will fit you and your measurements.
This is becoming very popular with road racers and the sportive community.
Banjo also offers a range of test bikes too, meaning that you can take a 24-hour test ride of many of the road and mountain bike in stock, allowing you to make the right choice, before purchasing your next set of wheels.
The Banjo Cycles racing team has also had a great year. Racing on the roads and mountain bike circuits over the UK, they have had some great results in 2009. The team has taken part in many 12 and 24 endurance mountain bike events.
The road riders have competed in many events this year too. Including the National 10 mile time trial champs which took place in Newbury and many high profile road races.
The team are focused and training hard at the moment. So 2010 looks promising for the team too.
Looking forward to 2010 and the next five years, the future looks bright.
With the great range of 2010 bikes, clothing and accessories now in stock and the friendly and enthusiastic staff, Banjo Cycles should be considered for all your cycling needs.
