It has been nearly a year since TOPS Security Solutions Ltd expanded its successful Swindon-based security installation and servicing company into Newbury and within that time the team at TOPS has been amazed at the level of support shown by domestic and commercial customers alike.
The company’s senior surveyor for the area, Marc Roots has been really pleased with the way that the company has progressed within such a short time although he is not that surprised: “I have been within the industry in varying roles for many years now and the way that we work with our customers is so refreshing – you sometimes hear the old adage ‘customer is king’ and this is exactly how our customers are treated. Everything is focused firmly on providing the very best to each and every customer, above all else.”
He attributes its success to this high level of service and support coupled with the fact that it is a local company which has a real interest in the community. He explained: “What people really like is the fact that as a surveyor, I am the first person from the company that meets them and if they decide to become a customer I will always be the first port of call for them if they have any queries. They know that whatever query they may have, one phone call to me and that’s it – I will deal with the rest.
“Some of our customers that have moved from larger alarm companies were fed up of speaking to people who were on the other side of the country, had no idea of who they were and more often than not were passed from one department to another before their query was answered.”
One of the company’s directors, Simon Rushton, believes that the large ‘national’ companies cannot offer that level of service. He said: “We have always been mindful to keep to the same principles of customer service and these will never change. I think that we have the perfect mixture of support, technical know-how and the ability to react quickly to each and every one of our customers.
“We don’t want to become a huge company because the minute we lose the personal touch is the minute that we alienate all of our existing customers that have chosen us for that very reason.
“Our formula seems to work – on top of the new business that we have gained, the amount of customers that have cancelled their contracts with the bigger alarm company’s and moved to us has increased steadily over the past year and continues to do so. “
TOPS has a broad clientbase, ranging from small domestic dwellings to power stations, and can install and maintain intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, fire alarms, gate automation, security grilles, security lighting, and entry phone systems among other things and offers free site surveys, which can take place in the evening or weekends.
