For more than 40 years now, Westronics has been installing and maintaining fire and security systems to thousands of customers throughout the United Kingdom.
Managing director Graham Miller said: “The key to any successful fire or security system is the quality of the products used. Celebrating our 40th year in business this year we have come to know the good (and the bad) products that our industry uses.”
Throughout Westronics’ 40 years history it has served clients such as the Ministry of Defence, local authorities, national charities and the average home owner who all demand quality and reliability.
General manager Martin Hoskins said: “In the years of my engineering apprenticeship, the industry was in its infancy and Westronics became a test bed for some of the technology that we come to rely on today.”
Mr Miller and Mr Hoskins also have cause for celebration this year as they have both reached 25 and 30 years service at Westronics, respectively. Mr Miller said: “Including our service at Westronics Martin and I have over 60 years experience within this industry, and along with a highly skilled team we feel that Westronics has the capability to solve any fire or security need.”
Mr Hoskins added: “Westronics is a friendly family business that offers free consultations and advice from our surveyors. Whether you are protecting your home or require an access control system to span nationwide, they will find a solution to suit you.”
Both men pointed out the array of awards and accreditations that hang around their offices. Mr Miller said: “Like any other industry we have strict British Standards that we work to as a minimum, including PD6662 for intruder alarms and BS5839 for fire alarm systems. Every member of staff has a key part to play in maintaining these standards and accreditations, and we are continually improving with in house training.”
Mr Hoskins said: “It is the constant change in standards and requirements that makes fire and security systems such a minefield to the end user.”
Mr Miller added: “Following our success at the Royal Berkshire Show last year, we found many people interested to learn about our systems, so this year we have introduced West Tec.”
Proffering a postcard, he said: “We would like to extend this invitation to all Newbury Business Today           readers.”
The invitation is to an event called West Tec ’09.
Mr Hoskins described the event: “The purpose of the event is to aid the small  business owner or the facilities manager of a large corporation in making the decision on any fire or security need.”
The event is to be held at the Madejeski Stadium on June 24 and will be split into two areas. Firstly, there will be an exhibition where visitors will have the opportunity to view a wide variety of products supplied by Westronics’ business partners. The second half will host short seminars focussing on the standards surrounding CCTV systems, access control, intruder and fire alarms.
Mr Miller concluded: “The event is free so please register your details at admin@westronics.co.uk or call (0118) 9426726.”
