The product is 300 million years old, but the new stone CIRCLE showroom in Bone Lane, Newbury, offers a thoroughly modern approach to helping people find the right stone to suit them, whether as a floor, solid sink, shower tray, kitchen worktop or something else.
While the main showroom is remarkable with the many different kinds of available stone already crafted into flooring, work surfaces, walls and even a table, it is the vast viewing area behind that also astounds.
This is where customers can wander among the ornate slabs of stone and is more akin to a modern art gallery and plans are underway to host a series of public events here. It spans 25,000 square feet and is an inspirational environment that is motivating.
In contrast to the materials that stone CIRCLE works with, its name is relatively new, although the business behind the stone experts, B&V Masonry has been around for more than 40 years.
The company is run by Newbury brothers Steve and Jeff Vanhinsbergh, who are understandably delighted to be opening the new showroom in their home town.
Steve Vanhinsbergh explained: “We are really proud of what we have achieved here. We wanted people to be able to see both contemporary and traditional ways to use stone in their homes, which we have achieved with the showroom. It effectively takes people on a tour through a home using stone and we have a fully working kitchen too, and soon we will have some celebrity chefs working alongside our stone.”
Jeff Vanhinsbergh added: “We have always prided ourselves with being able to offer customers much more than most stonemasons can, and that is due to our extensive stock. With our original showroom on the A339 near Basingstoke we carry stock in our yard matching with all the stone in the showroom.
“Here in Newbury, we have been able to take that a stage further and showcase a much wider stock under cover, so you can closely inspect the very slab that you want for your floor or your work top and know that is the same slab we will craft into something truly special for you.”
This new venue to see stone CIRCLE is exclusively a showroom, as all the work is carried out at the workshop based at the other site, which is acknowledged as one of the finest stone workshops in the country, where skilled craftsmen and the modern machines can handle the most intricate designs from crafting sinks from a single slab of stone, to using scanners to create more intricate designs in solid stone.
There should be no doubt that a visit to the new stone CIRCLE showroom is an experience that everyone should enjoy. Many will also be surprised at just how affordable this calibre of craftsmanship and quality of stone truly are.
