Ashmore Services - Not just 'some builder'
14th February 2008
A THATCHAM company has established itself as one of the region’s foremost provider of building and maintenance services to both the commercial and domestic market.
Ashmore Services applies the same professionalism whether it is completing a £250,000 contract in the City or helping a local home owner recover from last summer’s flooding.
Founded by Stewart Luker and Nicky Moth-Burn, the company has evolved to offer a broad range of services that has allowed it to comprehensively provide for a growing number of clients.
“We will always be working on a variety of projects,” explained Mr Luker. “We have ongoing maintenance contracts, commercial projects and in the current climate are being approached by an increasing number of people opting to improve their home rather than move; perhaps with an extension or actually remodelling the house.
“We are also flexible. We had a client referred to us who had bought a house they wanted modernised but they only had a month left in their rented accommodation. We began work within an hour of meeting them and completely remodelled their home, moving some walls, demolishing others, completely changing its lay-out and then finished it to a high standard
“We are all about high standards. While we have a large team now I still tend to do most of the surveys myself and subsequently I do the tenders and quotes. Nicky is responsible for our accounts, customer relations and she handles our recruitment and employment of sub contractors.”
Nicky Moth-Burn added: “We CRB check our employees when appropriate and we also require everyone who works for us, both employees and sub contractors, to attain their various certificates through us, regardless of whether they have them already. Consequently we are confident of the abilities of everyone we employ.
“We operate at the highest level of commercial businesses and can provide them with the standards and support they expect. The same professionalism with which we treat those clients is how we approach our domestic clients whether they want a new door, extension or need help after flooding – we worked on quite a few homes that were flooded last July.”
Stewart Luker concluded: “I am always happy to go and talk to anybody about their ideas or what they want to do with their home; we offer good honest advice and it is free. If people want to use us they will.
“We joke about those ‘rogue trader’ programmes and me being filmed talking to somebody about what we do simply because of the reputation that some builders have – but we are not ‘some builders’. We are a building and maintenance company with an excellent reputation for honesty and finishing jobs on time and on budget.”
